REBT is a tool that helps a person understand how certain events have caused a person to have irrational beliefs about the event, themselves, or the world in general. It illustrates the consequence of holding these beliefs and challenges an individual to reshape their beliefs to produce more favorable consequences.

Materials/Resources needed: REBT trained buddy. (optional) pen/pencil, paper

Step 1: Identify Activating Event
Step 2: Identify Irrational Beliefs
Step 3: Identify negative consequences of irrational beliefs
Step 4: Challenge/Dispute Irrational Beliefs
Step 5: Explore possible alternate consequences and effects
Step 6: Effective new beliefs to displace irrational ones
